    Manitoba Holds Fifth Expression Of Interest Draw Of 2019

    The province of Manitoba held its third Expression of Interest draw in less than three weeks on March 1, inviting 403 immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence.             The invitations brought the number issued so far this year by the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) to 2,267. Those invited had an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile registered with the MPNP under its Skilled Worker Overseas, Skilled Worker in Manitoba or International Education stream.     Canada Extends Atlantic Immigration Pilot

    Canada is extending its Atlantic Immigration Pilot to December 2021 in a bid to maintain the program’s momentum, the federal government has announced.   Launched in 2017 for an initial three-year run, the Atlantic Immigration Pilot (AIP) was created to address labour shortages in the provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador. The pilot allows designated employers in those provinces to hire eligible foreign skilled workers and international graduates of universities and colleges in the Atlantic Canada region.     Australia-New Temporary Sponsored Parent Visa To Be Available From April

    Migrants who wish to bring their parents to Australia for longer periods will be able to lodge a sponsorship application to sponsor their parent for the much-debated new temporary Sponsored Parent visa from April 17th this year. The legislation tied to this new visa which allows sponsors to bring their parents to Australia for longer periods was passed in November last year. “Sponsors will be able to lodge an application to sponsor their parent from 17 April 2019,” Immigration Minister David Coleman announced.     Saskatchewan has invited 83 Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence in a draw held February 27.   Those invited had an Expression of Interest, or EOI, registered under Saskatchewan’s International Skilled Worker Express Entry sub-category, which allows the province to nominate candidates in the federal Express Entry system for Canadian permanent residence.     The Government of Canada has issued 3,350 invitations to apply for Canadian permanent residence to candidates in the Express Entry system in a draw held February 20.   Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has now issued a total of 14,500 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in 2019, which remains the biggest start to a year since the Express Entry system’s introduction in 2015. The 14,500 ITAs are an increase of 70 per cent over the number issued at this same juncture in 2018 — a year that saw IRCC set the current Express Entry ITA record of 89,800.
