    ALBERTA | CANADA IMMIGRATION | EXPRESS ENTRY DRAW Alberta invited 401 Express Entry candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence in its last two selection rounds, the province’s immigrant nominee program has revealed.  A selection round held October 24 invited 372 candidates with a profile in the federal Express Entry system, which manages the pool of candidates for Canada’s three Federal High Skilled economic immigration categories — the  Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and the Canadian Experience Class.     Express Entry candidates among 199 immigration candidates invited to apply for a provincial nomination in February 21 draw. The province of Prince Edward Island has invited 199 economic immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence in a draw held February 21.   The invitations more than doubled the 91 issued in the province’s January draw. A total of 170 candidates in Prince Edward Island (PEI)’s Express Entry and Labour Impact categories received invitations in the February 21 draw. Manitoba issued new invitations to apply for a provincial nomination for permanent residence on February 15 to eligible skilled workers and international students who have expressed their interest in immigrating to the province.   The draw was the province’s third of 2019 and issued 444 invitations to candidates in the Skilled Worker Overseas, Skilled Worker in Manitoba and International Education economic immigration streams.     The Government of Canada held its second Express Entry draw of 2019 on Wednesday, January 23, issuing 3,900 invitations to apply for Canadian permanent residence to candidates with ranking scores as low as 443.   Canada has now issued 7,800 invitations to candidates in the federal Express Entry system since the start of 2019.     Canada will reopen Parents and Grandparents Program January 28 IRCC will resume first-in, first-served approach to processing expressions of interest. Canada’s Parents and Grandparents Program will reopen to interested sponsors beginning on January 28, the federal government announced today.   The program, known as the PGP, allows Canadian citizens and permanent residents over the age of 18 to sponsor their parents and/or grandparents for Canadian permanent residence. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) says up to 20,000 new PGP applications will be processed in 2019.     Ontario, B.C. led Canadian provinces in employment gains in 2018

    Ontario led Canada’s provinces and territories in net employment gains in 2018 — a year that saw Canada’s unemployment rate reach its lowest point since 1976.   The number of people employed in Ontario grew by 78,000 over the course of 2018, all of it full-time employment, while the province’s unemployment rate dropped 0.2 percentage points to 5.4 per cent — the second lowest rate among Canada’s provinces. The Canadian province that posted the lowest unemployment rate in 2018 was British Columbia, at 4.4 per cent.
