Saskatchewan Updates In-Demand Occupations List With 13 New Positions

Computer programmers and interactive media developers are among 13 professions that have been added to Saskatchewan’s In-Demand Occupations List.  Work experience in an occupation on the province’s In-Demand Occupations List is a requirement for both the Express Entry and Occupation In-Demand sub-categories of the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP). A job offer, however, is not required for either sub-category. The SINP is part of Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program, which allows participating provinces and territories to nominate a set number of economic immigration candidates for Canadian permanent residence. Candidates in the federal Express Entry pool who obtain a provincial nomination through the SINP’s Express Entry sub-category are awarded an additional 600 points toward their ranking score, effectively guaranteeing an…

Canada Has Issued 3,350 ITA For Canadian Permanent Residence To Express Entry Candidates With Scores As Low As 451

Canada has issued 3,350 invitations to apply for Canadian permanent residence to Express Entry candidates with scores as low as 451 in a new draw held April 3.  The minimum score in today’s draw is one point lower than the cut-off score in the previous Express Entry invitation round on March 20, which was 452. This was the third consecutive draw in which the cut-off score has gone down, a trend that may be attributed to the consistent two-week interval between draws. The tie-break used in the April 3 draw was set at January 9, 2019, at 07:35:09 UTC. This means that all candidates with a CRS score above 451, as well as…

Rural communities around Alberta could get a boost of around 40,000 newcomers over the next four years under policies being proposed by the province’s United Conservative Party.   Albertans will vote for a new provincial government this spring and a number of polls have shown the United Conservative Party (UCP) and its leader, Jason Kenney, leading with decided voters. Kenney, who served as Canada’s immigration minister from 2008 to 2013, said this week that Alberta needs to “use the power” of immigration to revitalize the province’s smaller, rural communities and the UCP would seek to do so through an immigration strategy centred around two key components: the Rural Renewal Program and the Rural…

More than 91,000 profiles have been submitted through Quebec Skilled Worker Program’s new Arrima online portal since September. More than 91,000 immigration candidates have submitted expressions of interest through Quebec’s online Arrima portal since it opened last September — a six-month period dominated by the rise of the province’s new Coalition Avenir Québec government.   The Arrima portal was introduced September 18, 2018, to manage profiles submitted to the Quebec Skilled Worker Program after it was switched to an Expression Of Interest (EOI) system by the previous Liberal government, which then lost Quebec’s general election on October 1, 2018, to the Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ). An EOI system requires interested candidates to create a profile that…

The Express Entry system is Canada’s main source of skilled foreign labour and manages the pool of candidates for the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Canadian Experience Class and the Federal Skilled Trades Class.
